THE TRIAL

THE BOOKING PROCESS

We recommend booking your trial in around 8 weeks prior to your special day, in which case we ask that you pop us an email around 12 weeks before your wedding date so we can send across your artists availability for the following month to find a date that suits you. All of our artists are mobile, and some of our team members also have home studios or salons where your trial can take place if you'd prefer. Trial bookings with Shannon tend to take place at her home address in Southampton, however she can travel upon request.

-

Bridal hair and makeup trials tend to take around 2-3 hours, depending how natural or glam you're hoping to go. For bridesmaids, mothers and other wedding guests we allow around 90 minutes per person. We ensure there is ample of time to focus on one hair and makeup style per person during your trial, so if you know you would like to try multiple styles then please let us know in advance so we can ensure we allocate plenty of time for your session. If you require some additional time within your trial appointment to try out a variety of hair or makeup looks, we charge a discounted rate of £40 per extra hour.

-

Shannon and the team are generally fully booked styling bridal parties on weekends, and therefore trials tend to take place mid-week.

-

Payment for trials are due 7 days prior to your booking via bank transfer, or in cash on the day of your appointment if you'd prefer - please just let us know in advance when we organise your trial date.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We hope to make your bridal hair and makeup trial with your artist just as exciting as getting you ready on your big day! We'll start off simply by having a discussion about your hair and makeup ideas or requirements, as well as going over the style of your dress and the general theme of your wedding to get an idea of the overall look you're hoping to achieve. We'll also discuss whether you'll be wearing a veil or any hair accessories such as flowers or hair slides - as these details can influence the look we will design.

-

Your skin plays a key part in your bridal makeup look, so we'll begin your makeup by analysing your skin type and having a chat about your current skin care regime - this can help us decide what kind of finish and coverage you're looking to achieve with your makeup, as well as gaining an understanding of any allergies or sensitivity you may have.

-

After this, we will go over any specific ideas you might have for your makeup. We really recommend you have a good look online (Pinterest and Instagram is where we find most of our inspo!) prior to your trial to get an idea of hair and makeup styles that you like, and it would be great if you can save these photos ready to show your artist at the start of your appointment. Feel free to have a look through our social media or bridal gallery for inspiration from some of our past brides.

-

Once you and your artist have had a chat about the kind of styles you like, we will focus on one hair and makeup style to design and perfect - and then we'll tweak this until you are 100% happy.  If you're potentially looking to try out multiple hair or makeup styles, we recommend that you book additional time onto your appointment or a second trial appointment on another date. We will of course go over all of your options and we will always aim to explore a variety of styles with you - however the trial is designed to focus on the one ultimate hair and makeup look that you're envisioning for the big day.

USEFUL ITEMS & PREPARATION TIPS

Before arriving to your trial, we ask that you have clean, dry hair and we'll be even more grateful if you have freshly cleansed and exfoliated skin!

As well as your inspiration photos and ideas, we also ask that you bring your veil and any potential hair accessories with you. Some of our artists may carry a few hair accessories with them for you to try on and get an idea of what you like, however it is recommended that you have your own with you if you can. If you're unsure what you'd like or what will suit your hairstyle, then don't panic! We are happy to offer you our advice and help you finalise your chosen style with our recommended hair accessories.

-

If you know there are certain makeup products that you are planning on wearing on the day - such as your favourite shade of lipstick, then please feel free to bring these along with you to your trial!

-

Whilst we work on your hair, we will assess whether or not we think some additional volume or length may help with your chosen style. If you know you will be wearing hair extensions on the wedding day, then please ensure you bring them along to your trial appointment. Your artist will go over your different options with you, such as clip-in hair extensions or padding - such as donuts. These little extras can end up making a huge difference to the overall look and can really help short or thin hair be styled into a much more voluptuous or elaborate design.

Once we have completed your hair and makeup trial, we can have a little discussion about the kind of timings you have in mind for your big day. By this point, your artist should be able to give you an idea of the start time - ready to make a recommended schedule for the wedding morning.

If you have any further questions regarding the trial, please take a look at our FAQ's to see if they've been answered there, otherwise we would love to hear from you so just drop us a message.
